The caravels of Christopher Columbus (Pinta, Nina and Santa Maria) was the design of a two stamp set Argentina commemorating 1892, the IV Centennial of Discovery of America. The artist responsible for this design (below) was Eduardo Martino. |
|
| Each
value was printing under 200,000 stamps. Released October 12, 1892, this
set bears the distinction of being the first depiction of a Columbian ship
on stamp. The stamps are issued in two values: two centavos in pale blue
and five centavos in dark blue.
